Now been rejected from 3 schools for my NICU only experience. Been a nurse for 9 years, 6 years in NICU and a couple per diem or off after my daughter and now 2.5 years NICU/HROB case management for a large insurance carrier. All of the directors said to go back and get at least another year of ICU experience and leave my job, which I will. If you were me, would you try to go to the PICU from here for a year? I am so disappointed but being told by many schools that NICU is not "relevant" experience. Just need advice as I cannot imagine trying to break into an adult ICU at this point. Plus who would hire a veteran NICU nurse?? Any other areas that might be good for me? HELP!
