Graduate level courses?

I am currently living in Northwest TN. I work two different jobs and am unable to attend an actual class. Was wondering if anyone knew of any good Advanced Patho or pharm classes that any colleges offer that would help make my application more appealing? Being able to take a self paced course at home would be great. Summer or next fall preferred.

UAB offers an online patho and pharm courses. I must say though that the patho course is not "at your own pace." It was a ton of info very fast. The tests were also very difficult. You have to read extensively. Pharm was not that hard.

Rush Univ. has these online components patho, physio, pahrm, though, i would recommend contacting the schools you will apply to and ask what they would like to see. These classes do show motivation on your part, but, may not transfer over. The reason I say this is because the program I am in is an MSN and has graduate nursing core courses that can be taken before you matriculate into the program whereas the science courses are taught at an anesthesia provider focus like our patho, physio..etc....hope it helps.

Thanks for the info. I will look into all these options, esp the organic, because I have not taken any organic chemistry. Not to worried about the classes not transferring, although that would be a plus. It would be worth it just to pad my application.

You need to figure out which schools you are applying to. For example UTK requires a graduate statistics to apply and MTSA looks more favorable on a patho class done through Vanderbilt.

Yes you are right, but i think most like to see a patho class from all the research I have done. I actually made the alternate list at MTSA this past application deadline. I looked into the Vandy class and it costs about $5000. I know this is nothing compared to anesthesia school itself but I can't put that much money into 1 class, because all you are paying for is the Vandy name and there are other classes that are just as good out there.

I would think that instead of graduate level classes, the organic chemistry class would be a better stand-alone class to show you are able to thrive in difficult coursework. Take this advice with a grain of salt tho, cause I haven't taken any graduate level classes. I have taken organic 1 and 2 and they were both extremely challenging. Organic chemistry was required for one of the schools I interviewed at. At both interviews the interviewers reviewed my grades in these classes, (much to my dismay). Good luck this year. I hope you get in!
