This applies to both MDAs and CRNAs who work in environments where they may be put in this situation. This can happen in a huge city or a rural area.

You are in a small hospital at the end of the day finishing an elective case with a very stable patient. The case would take about 2 hours and you are about an hour into it. You are the last anesthesia person in the hospital.

You get a call from the OB dept that there is a baby just born which they cannot intubate and are having a hard time ventilating. They are asking you to come to them and intubate the patient emergently or the child may die.

The call guy is 30 min away.
