Hey there,

I need some input. I work at an ICU that does not utilize swans much anymore. I worked in the ICU about 9-10 years ago and we put swans in left and right and almost everyone had one, and now rarely anyone has one. Some of our nurses don't even know how to work with swans due to the fact that we just are not putting them in like we used to. Since we do not utilize them much anymore, i don't really feel competent with them. My question is....how many of you out there are seeing the trend in a decreased use of Swan-Ganz catheters and do you think this is something that could come back to bite me when it comes to applying for anesthesia school? Any feedback is appreciated.
