I made a med error last week. The patient wasn't harmed, everything worked out fine. I took it very hard, type A, don't like to make mistakes, don't like the idea of causing harm to people. So, this is something that I often think about when I am considering a CRNA career. We are human and we make mistakes. How do you CRNA's handle the idea that if you have a person's life in your hands and that mistakes have the real potential to cause harm or even death? When you have a bad day, had a fight with your SO, have a headache or whatever, how do you make sure that you stay on top of things?
