I work in an ICU/CCU in a smaller hospital, and started here as a new grad. I am concerned that my experience here will not be enough to get me into grad school, although I feel somewhat satisfied by what I have learned. We are a 12 bed unit. We work a lot with vents, vasoactive drips, CVP's, and a-lines, but we do NOT do balloon pumps or swann lines. Also our cath lab shut down so we tend to ship our pts who need cathing. Major traumas are shipped. My question is, is this good enough? My top choice is UNE. At this point, the economy does not support switching jobs here, and a move to a larger hospital would require a signifigant commute. So I would rather stay here....
