We had a patient today with a history of MH.

During the discussion I asked my chief if an isolation room in PACU was necessary.

My thoughts were that the numerous other patients in the recovery room were all exhaling the remains of their volatile vapors and that this may trigger an episode of MH.

His response after going into deep thought for a minute was that the ventilation in the PACU was probably adequate and that it shouldn't be a concern.

What I loved was the fact that he complimented me on my thought processes and that my question really made him stop in the middle of all the discussion to think about it.

Are there any studies that show that patients should be placed in isolation or at least far away from other recovery room patients.

what do you think?
