This is a very basic situation, however, even among experienced practitioners, variations in practice exist.

6yo having tonsils out. His mom reports that he has daily GERD, poorly controlled with his current medicine (etoligy unclear). He is otherwise healthy, pretty calm, but not up for an IV at the moment.

I have seen people do a mask induction with cricoid pressure. Likewise, lots of us would want an IV first, either with the help of ketamine, PO versed, N2O, IN precedex, etc. Maybe you have one of those fancy needless lido blasters? Of course, once you get the IV, do you give sux, roc, or no MR?

Just curious as to how the pedi pros handle this one!
