You get word that a patient is being admitted to the medical service and is scheduled for a lap chole the following day. They have Von Gierke's disease.

Patient is 38 yr old female with pmh of htn, overall fatigue, abdominal pain

Labs reveal leukocytosis, normal H/H, K 3.6, glucose 56, BUN/Cr normal.

Please discuss this disease, etiology and concerns related to anesthesia. Also would be nice if you can explain the biochemistry behind it...

What are your concerns for this patient prior to surgery? What will you order?
