Default Is this an acceptable reference?

Had and interview in January and didn't get in. I am not giving up and applying again. I have been spending time shadowing CRNAs and getting personal help (interviewing, advice, etc) from the lead CRNA at the hospital I work at. He also happens to be on the faculty at the school I am applying to and will be in my interview. Would he be an acceptable reference or would it be a conflict of interest?
