Surgeon Operates On Wrong Eye Of 4 Y/O [VIDEO]


Despite claims by the CEO that policies and procedures are in place to prevent such medical mistakes at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, OR, four-year-old Jesse Matlock went in for surgery on his right eye last Wednesday and the procedure to correct his wandering eye was done on the left….a perfect;y normal eye. It appears that the mistake was recognized prior to Jesse leaving the OR since the procedure was then repeated on the correct eye, but without consulting or updating the parents on the situation.

“I have not noticed any improvement in the right eye and as far as I can tell the left is now wandering,” said Tasha Gaul, Jesse’s mother. Gaul is now concerned that this unnecessary surgery might adversely affect her son’s vision in the future.
