I'm working on a journal presentation about coding/"rapidly responding" to crises in the parturient. There's some good stuff out there, but I'm having a hard time finding the answer as to how beta-blockers would affect uterine tone during labor. Does beta-2 antagonism increase uterine contraction or lead to uterine tetany? I know high doses of beta-1 blockers can lose specificity - is that systemic, will they start hitting uterine beta-2 receptors too?
