My journey from RN to CRNA

Did a case by myself :)

Rate this Entry
Well i got to do a case essentially by myself with a CRNA in the room. MUCH easier for me to learn the "flow" that way! Cool stuff!

I cant wait to do more of that! As it is in any clinical situation, until ive met everyone who will precept me I start basically from the bottom with each new instructor. Just how it is!

I imagine that must be very hard for those who are shifted from site to site throughout their clinical. Luckily, im at the same one for the whole 2 years and only go out for specialty rotations here and there.

Well back to studying for finals.

Yah, that's nice. I was with a crna that's been doing it for 30 years the other day, and first thing he said was "you do, and I'll stand back here and keep my mouth shut until you start getting into deep shit." Was good. I thought you'd be teaching now.

Ray, that CRNA sounds like a good preceptor to have. paying attention but staying out of the way. I've done a lot of clinical preceptoring in my years and it is way hard to stay out of the way.

Congratulations. Keep in mind being "comfortable" is not always good. I am in a program where we only stay at a particular site 3 months. Its very stressful to change, but with each institution and each preceptor , i have the opportunity to learn yet another way to achieve the same safe patient outcome, or even better.
