Are there any decent apps for the iPhone that I can use to help me while at clinical or just for general reference?

Visit Skyscape.com, epocrates, and search iTunes apps for medicalc, docstogo (can upload school powerpoints for review while in the OR).

I’m so glad Skyscape is available on the android platform! They have consistently provided all doctors with a great service which we are really grateful for!
The recent launch of Skyscape on the android platform (like G2, G3, G4, to MyTouch, the Droid, and all the other Google based phones,) has helped the medical field immensely. Doctors, Nurses and Medical Students are all able to avail of the free, as well as the paid services offered by Skyscape – (some of us are happy with the free services :) while others opt to buy the paid ones).
The most valued free resource is probably the Rx Drugs – which covers the dosage of medication for thousands of brands across the country. Another important free resource is the OCM (the Outlines in Clinical Medicine), while the third would probably be the Archimedes medical calculator. The MedAlert software comes free with this installation, as well as you can add free channels like CDC Spotlights and MedWatch (I really don’t think it gets much better than this!)
If you want to download Skyscape’s free software you can just visit Skyscape.com with your phone’s browser. There’s a lot of software from Skyscape available which can be used to help anyone in the Medical field on a day to day basis. Trust the best people, trust Skyscape! :)
Have a super day :)

Thanks for that list Mike ~ I was kind of wondering what apps are actually worth buying or will be useful in clinical. This is a nice starting point to shop from.

Update.
From Skyskape:
Sota Omugui's Anesthesia Drugs << use it every day. Pharm section for the drugs is excellent. Wish it had better information on elimination, rather than just 'hepatic' or 'renal', but everything is great.
Handbook of Clinical Anesthesia << just got it, use it for studying for a quick look up of a topic, rather than in clinical
Pharm and Phys in Anesthesia Practice << use it weekly.
Oxford American Handbook of Anesthesiology << use it everyday. Great overview.
And,
MGH << Also a great read in clinical - I just don't want to shell out the bucks for the iphone app.

I know it's not free (it's actually kinda pricey), but the Anesthesia Central app. for droids is AMAZING. I got it while still working in critical care and it has a very thorough pocket ICU guide (complete with patho., interventions, pharm. etc), drug guide, as well as an anesthesia specific application as well. It's also got links to JAMA and other anesthesia related peer-reviewed articles that will be very advantageous as I am beginning school in the very near future.

I think it looks fantastic...
I love that you can build/share your cases & review how others might do things....the PIA interactive screen is like wow - its alot of info on one screen that most folks cant even describe...also you can add or change any drugs ...or how its linked to MEDLINE that will search for all current reviews on the case you are doing ....or the spinal and epidural dosing (plus opiates).... tons of stuff...
anywho...did you try it?
BTW the best thing..... the full version is only $9 bucks - what a freaking deal - the trail version just has popups apparently ...

If I buy an app and then at some point get a new Iphone, will the apps transfer over? I'd be interested in buying a couple, but don't want to spend the money twice since I'm probably going to get the new iPhone when it comes out.

As a student I was hoping to find an app that would help me study when I was away from my books. I couldn't find a user friendly app so after graduation I decided to create one. It has just been launched on the iTunes app store. The name is Flash Gas and it is an anesthesia flashcard app. It has over 1700 fully referenced flashcards and is available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. A basic website is set up at www.TradewindsAnesthesia.com so you can see the layout of the app. Starting today there will be a promotional period through the end of the year in which schools can obtain a free copy of the app to raffle off to their students. Please visit the site for more details.

I must plug my app, as well. Congenital Heart Defects, a concise explanation and visual of anatomy and hemodynamics of 15 different defects. Covers both cyanotic and acyanotic defects. 99¢ is all. Would appreciate any and all feedback.

true...if the questions are legit. are they board-style to date? or generic style? maybe it would matter to those that are near boards.

Beard, the app is currently not available on the android market but we have plans to release one in the future. We are currently gathering more information to expand the volume of content within the app. While 1700 flashcards is a lot of flash cards we still want to gather more information, from more sources, to provide an extremely comprehensive study application. By nature of the app market a purchase now gives access to all future updates. I wish I had something similar when I was in school. I could have saved so much time if I had my study material pre-made for me, not to mention the convenience of having it on my phone.

Currently the app is based on anesthesia content and not board style question format. All information is up to date from the most recent textbooks. A practice test section is currently under development and will be more board style format. Thanks for your interest.

Mike,
I see you have SonoAccess as an App. I work at a small hospital and the CRNAs are trying to convince Administration to start using Ultrasound for regional anesthesia. They are requesting guidelines for ultrasound usage. Can you help guide me to locating some guide lines for this purpose.
Thank You

Hey Dave
When you say guidelines what are you asking? I use it for every central line and every block. Besides the fact that it is just safer and more efficient/predictable you can also bill 1 unit for the interpretation of the u/s pic and the hospital can bill for equipment.
