For awhile, Ive been messing around playing my acoustical (have an electric too) but want to learn more picking/strum techniques (kinda in a rut). Anyone have a good resource to really help someone grow/learn?

hey tone,
what i did in the past, was watch videos of songs/artists/concerts that i wanted to learn. also, i used some guitar tablature for certain songs/parts of a song. if you can get the chords, chances are you can figure out the scales/solos. again, depends on who/what you want to learn. there's just so many styles and modes of music just within the guitar fretboard alone.
and fwiw, i've been playing for about 20 yrs, and have played out a few times and sat with a friends band a few times. anyway, good times!

I'm with ether. I looked up tablature on the internet. There is this site that is really good
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/
They have all of my favorite songs. I practice the tabs and the chords with that.
I've got an Ibanez electric. I've been picking it up every now and then

I have been playing for about 10 years. I have a Strat, a Gibson, and an Ovation. The ovation is an acoustic/electric. I find myself playing electric way more. I agree with the Tab comments.

Thanks guys - I use that site too. I guess Ill revert to my peavy for learning tabs and those crazy B chords (barring and such) - since I have a hard time with the sequencing on my Tacoma. I'm also looking for different strum patterns.
Its funny just picking in a chord - I'm always doing the same (usually starting with a bass note, and working my way down til the next chord change - sounds good but a bit repetitious). I suppose doing the tabs will help break my habit...

Www.ivideosongs.com is great for learning entire songs that might get you into some new strum patterns or I just YouTube strumming patterns.

Martin D-28 (nice, smooth, easy to play)
I taught myself what I know from tab back in the 90's. Never really progressed though cause I was a better singer songwriter than anything so I just used the guitar for writing and playing rhythm. I always wanted to get better but didn't due to lack of real focus on it.

Larrivee D-03R here, been playing on and off for about 24ish years.
Mostly play by ear, but tab for the win. Can't read music to save my life.
Lots of good stuff on youtube. Any particular style you are looking to pick up?
