When I started my first clinical rotations, I was at a community hospital here in my area. I was overwhelmed and more anxious than I had ever been about anything, but the CRNAs and MDs at St. Elizabeth's in Belleville, IL were the nicest, friendliest, most hospitable people I encountered during my entire stint as a student. My best friend and I were at this particular facility for more than 6 months, and we were very close to a couple of the CRNAs there. My favorite mentor was Greg, a CRNA who was one of the best people I ever met. He was absolutely my favorite person, and I often signed up for whatever cases he was doing for the day. He was kind, really enjoyed having students, and he taught me a great deal. He was always joking, and made you feel at ease, treated every student like they were gold, and was a knowlegable and skilled provider.

Greg passed away yesterday after suffering a massive stroke suddenly, and I just wanted to tell you all about this awesome man. Our profession was lucky to have him, and I was blessed to know him.

I'll miss you, Greg.
