View Full Version : Who else out there is biting his/her nails waiting to hear?

Who out there is in the same boat I'm in anxiously waiting to hear from interviews? Since on this board there are at least 2 people who got accepted very very soon after an interview, I'm starting to get despondent, anxious, etc., etc. I haven't gotten rejected any place yet and still have one more interview to go, but still.........
This is hard.

It is hard. Hang in there; it seems like forever before you get accepted and strangely, time speeds up ridiculously after the fact! I am sure you will get in. Good luck, and I'll loan you my lucky fortune - it said, "The wheel of good fortune is finally turning in your direction" and not long after I got it and taped it to the computer I found out I'd been accepted.
So, sending fortunate thoughts your way! :)

What should I make of a letter that says that I remain in "the competitive pool of applicants", and that they will be making "final decisions on admissions and alternates at the completion of this interview cycle in MARCH" (emphasis is mine)?????
It doesn't sound too good to me. Like, after we have interviewed every single person, we'll accept you if there is no one better, but we are going to wait till March because we hope we find better applicants than you.
I think that this 'not yes' = no.
P.S. An interview process that involves 5 minutes each with 4 two-person teams of program admins is probably not advantageous to non-traditional applicants like myself. I do remember feeling that I had barely started to answer the questions and the 5 minutes was over. These are not clinical questions I'm talking about. More like questions about motivation.
50 may just be too old.....as though there can be no reason good enough or quick enough to explain why a 50-year old would want to do this.

Thats a tough one. I can definitly see them taking into consideration that your length of work as a CRNA could be much shorter, either due to health issues or retirement. I do know admission people (in general) consider that when choosing applicants.
If the current goal of increasing enrollment and schools is to combat the number of CRNAs set to retire over the next 10 years then it might make you seem less of a canadiate. Tho, im totally speculating.
On the otherhand, i know that many schools do not send out admission notices until interviews are over completely. That way, they get to choose the best of the grp as oppose to take people all the way through. Do you know if anyone has been admitted yet?
Im sure you'll get in D, give them a call and ask if anyone has been accepted into the program yet.

I am officially out of the nail-biting category. I got accepted at my first choice: Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Anesthesia. Start August 2007.
I had just about given up hope. Starting to wonder about Plans B, C, etc. When EVERYONE you know tells you "Oh, you'll get in" it starts to freak you out when you don't hear anything and you wonder what in the world your supervisor really said about you in the LOR......

That is great news. Now relax for 8 months, have some fun, read some good fiction, do what you enjoy, try some yoga and of course, participate on this website.

I need to lose some weight and get in better shape and strengthen my laryngoscope arm!!
This acceptance means so much to me. It gives me a goal that can change my life and the life of my family. Because of what we have gone through the last 18 months, going the old direction was not good for us. We all needed me to take us to a different place. Not literally, but figuratively. So the door is open now.
Thank you to everyone on this site who has been unfailingly helpful to us wanna-bes. I'm so glad I found this site.
I had become so unsure of my likelyhood of acceptance that I had stopped reading my new Baby Miller. Back to the colored highlighters.
Time to explore the newly accessible sites here.
