Has anyone seen this? I just got one for my birthday and it is awesome. I just wanted you all to look at it or if you have one tellme what you think. It records lecture or buisness meetings while you write. Then you can click anywhere on your notes to hear what was being said at that time. It also allows you to upload your notes and put them in pdf file with the touch of a button. Its a pretty nifty gadget!
www.livescribe.com. Also, I looked at some youtube demos that were pretty interesting. I bought a tablet for school last year and I am loving this over my laptop!

Awesome gift! I was thinking about getting one of these, but I think just a straight up digital recorder will work better for me. The biggest thing I need is the ability to easily record in mp3 format, so I can listen to the lectures while in my car (no matter where I go I will have a decent commute). Let us know how it fares for you!

P.S. - Which tablet did you get?

I have been drooling over it at Costco...there is a package deal that is better then what I found at Target. How well does it work for equations and the like? I don't start till January but I think I might like it better then my digital recorder.

Drooling over a pen?

I love this better than my digital recorder because it converts my paper notes to PDF. I can also post my notes for fellow classmates. It's truly working wonders. I love it. The sound quality is amazing to me. I bought an IBM thinkpad and spent thousands only to find this works better for me. The set back is no writing on power point slides... That is a drawback for some and a killer. I write the number of the slide on my notes page and use it as a reference. It has been working well so far. So far I am saying DEFINITELY worth the money. And I have the tablet, digital recorder, pda, palms etc..and they are all sitting in my closet! Anyone want to have them!? ;)

Brilliant!

Can you actually record an entire lecture? Or do you just record parts of it?

I am absolutely buying it.

If you all have a Mac Computer and 2008 Word on it, you can open a new document and there is a record feature.

While you are recording, you can type notes on the word Document.
When you go back to it later, and click on a part of your notes, it will automatically take you to that point in the recording that you started taking notes.
I just learned this...can be good for lectures in class as another option!

That pen looks cool though, I love gadgets!:nurse:

I have also recorded using the Mac program Garage Band, although that is a lot harder to set up than recording on Word!

How do you use powerpoints with the pen? If you make "old fashioned" notes on a PPT printout (with a normal pen), then it doesn't become part of your notes that you can download -- correct?

But, couldn't you scan the ppt printout into your notes (thinking you would want all your notes in one place --> the computer).

tell me more...... I am thinking of asking Santa for this tool!

Ok...I know this forum was started a year ago...but has anyone bought this pen recently?? I am actually considering buying one? Is it worth it...or should I just take notes as usual and record the lectures with my usual recorder and play back later.

it's a great pen. takes up little room in your bag. I have used it b4 during lecture and if the professor says something that will be on a test I write the word test next to what ever info he gave us. later on when i play the playback i touch the word test and it plays black what he said when he was talking about the test w/o searching on a regular recorder.
My advice is to buy just the 1 gig. I have never found the need for the x-tra space. a couple of my classmates have the 2 gig and find it unnecessary. I personally got mine on Ebay and saved a whole lot of money. I like it and think it may come in handy later on. i've got another 2 years to see how handy it will become.

I would be interested to hear any tips as well. Anyone have experience with it under Office Mac '08 for OS X? I hope it works as advertised for the Mac.
