Hey all

To all those CRNAs who do alot of travel/contract work (LOCUMS). We would love to hear about your practice.

What sortof jobs are most common?

What is the pay difference with locums and whats good and bad about it?

How important are negotiation skills if your thinking about traveling?

Do you feel your treated well or badly by the house anesthesia staff?

Is it often independant or ACT practice?

What are the positives and negatives?

I would also like to know if you do you own accounting/pay taxes. Where do you get health insurance from? Do you go through a middle man or negotiate your own contract and set up housing? A little behind the scenes info would be great.

I have a locums question that is more for the general population. Full-time locums is one thing, but tons of people pick up locums shifts for mo money. I know in my area many do. How do these work? Do you have to supply your own insurance or are you covered by the facility you are working for or by your own group? I don't necessarily mean surgicenters, but for hospitals that need some help fairly frequently, or for holiday/vacation relief. Do most go through an agency or work these out privately?

Thanks,

Ray
