I haven't posted in a while. It's because I've been chasing my tail in orientation and my first week in SICU at UAB. The shifts in the morning conference lobby the charge nurse to put me with the worse patients. I felt sorry for my preceptor because of the workload she had to endure. I've been titrating vasopressors in my sleep trying to maintain MAPs of 65 and at the same time chasing away PVCs. I could go on and on about my first patients, but it would probably bore you old heads. Suffice it to say that I was appropiately welcomed to SICU with high acuity patients and the experienced gained will no doubt help me in my future endeavors. Thanks again to everyone here who never hesitated to encourage me!

About a year ago I was in the same boat you're in. I am in the SICU at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. I love every moment of it; especially now that the "season" is upon us. Be sure and take every chance you can with those high acuity patients!
