Being a Mac addict and wannabe CRNA, I went to the Apple store today. I have been drooling over the iphone since it was announced. While in the store I went to my favorite web site--nurse-anesthesia.org of course.
This site looks amazing on the phone and I could even pull up the Photobook. While I was logged in I was able to read a couple posts then it would kick me out as if I did not log in.This happened about 4 times. The phone was on WIFI. I had 3 different Apple salespeople trying to answer my question as to why it was happening with no answer. They said they would monitor for this problem. Does anyone here have this awesome new gadget? If you have one, have you experienced this problem? Everything else on the Internet worked great, I am just perplexed as to why I was getting kicked out of my favorite site?

I have a Mac and wish I could get the I phone, but we don't have ATT in my area.:bawling:

I tell yah, i want one!

But they are a bit pricey and i have a 2 yr with verizon now so the cost to break and get a new phone are prohibitive. A few of the Docs in the OR had one and i played with it for a bit. Really, its as good as you think it is!

I waited 2 hours in line at the AT&T store last Friday to get one. They had sold out when I got there, so I ordered one by mail. It should be here on Friday. I can hardly wait...not that I need a new gadget, but am a MAC lover.

I will let you know about getting this website on it, when I get mine.

Thanks Yoga! I cannot wait to get one. My contract with Sprint is up next month.I am not too happy about switching to AT&T, hopefully I won't have any problems. I hope you like it. Be sure to keep us posted. I think there are several Mac lovers on this forum that would like to see your opinion of the gadget.
Thanks

That's funny. Someone I know who works for AT&T said he couldn't even get an iphone. He said the only reason AT&T paid for the rights to the iphone was to steal customers from the other providers. They didn't want to waste the iphone on someone who already works for the company. From reading yalls' comments, it seems their plan has worked. :)

Any idea how long ATT has the "rights" to the iPhone? I like my cell company too much to switch - even for that cool new gadget.

I think it is two years. I am not happy about switching and I am having second thoughts. AT&T does not have the best reputation where I live as far as dropped calls and customer service.

You may be able to buy an "unlocked" phone on ebay. I'm not sure if they have "unlocked" iphones yet though. You'd just need to put your little card thingy in it and it should work with your current company. Those unlocked phones are pretty pricey, especially since you're not getting the "deal" for signing a new contract.

Phone came today. It is amazing. Setting up on ITunes took less than 5 minutes. Checking email, on the net, text messaging and of course using the phone. I have to play around with it some more, like all Apple products, there is more than meets the eye, so there is always lots to learn. Also got to keep my old phone number.

Getting ready to download music from ITUnes. Photos look really good.

Not that I need another toy, but it was easier to get than a "boytoy" and doesn't complain when I buy shoes.

Does the iphone utilize pdf files? I have not seen one myself but is the screen big like your average ipaq pda. I'm looking at either a pda or this iphone for school.

The iphone can read pdf, word, and I think excel files. The screen is pretty much the full length of the phone. I think it is 3 and 1/2 inches long. The screen is larger than any phone out there and yet the phone is so remarkably small and thin. There is an icon for you tube on the main screen and it is like watching TV. Too me it is quite impressive. I just need to be sure swithching to a new cell phone company will be favorable.
Yoga, I envy you! Is it worthy of all the hype? If it starts complaining about buying shoes, I'd go for the boytoy! It would be a difficult decision cuz they both make me drool. LOL!

The one reason i dont want to get one is AT&T. I have a couple friends on their service and hate it. They complain about how slow the internet is as well.

I have no complaints about verizon... Dunno waht to do!

I had verizon wireless last year. I switched to cingular which is on the at&t network. I really like it. I get better reception than verizon here in los angeles for some reason. As for data transfer, I don't use that function very often so I am not sure how slow that is. That might all change of course with this iphone.

I have been with cingular for 5 years. They had some rough PR years but battled through a huge growth spurt. Their coverage in cell towers are phenomenal and I hardly ever have a weak signal. I have been using a treo 650 for 2 years and playing games surfing web. Downloads aren't as fast as a T-1 hardline but they do the job.

I am not sure about AT and T past but when they bought cingular they also acquired their towers. So now I am a AT and T customer and I have not noticed anything different at all. I am sure those who try them won't be disappointed.

I do not work for them. JMHO
Thanks
