I have spoken to several CRNA's who are willing to set it up so I can shadow. How many shifts should I aim for and what should I expect while I'm there. How many shadowings should I have for LOR's? Thanks in advance. BGC

Hi BGC,
I would recommend doing enough shifts to see a variety of cases. Maybe shadow in the main OR, L&D, & a surgery center (if those are options). Come up with a list of questions prior to shadowing. Ask about hours worked, types of cases, what they like/don't like about their job. Also, shadowing several CRNAs will show you that everyone has their own way of doing things & different techniques used.
Read up on a couple common surgeries (lap chole, hernia repair etc). Preceptors appreciate that you took the time to research a little bit. Maybe send a thank you note afterward. You never know when you may cross paths again or might want to ask them for a recommendation. :trytofly:
Good luck!
