Hi All,
I'm currently applying for CRNA school in the Northeast and am seeking feedback on my chances based on my atypical nursing career so far.

I have 6 years of total nursing experience after receiving my BSN in 2006
2006-2008- 2 years high acuity academic medical center CCU / MICU
2009- hospice case manager
2010-2011- med surg nursing
Nov 2011 to present- back in ICU at community hospital

3.5 GPA
1300 GRE

PALS and ACLS
numerous international volunteering as RN
shadowed 2 CRNAs

Just looking for opinions about how competitive I am... I realize my experiences are not those of the typical applicant...
Thanks for your input!

pretty competitive. Northeast is a good school. Talk to Steve Alves about your goals in the program and in your potential career as a CRNA....he's running for AANA President and has always supported extra circulars....which it looks like you have.

I'd take you over some 1-year wonder in a heartbeat.

I am applying in the northeast, but Northeastern U is one of the schools I'm applying to. Also applying to Boston College, New Britain School of NA, and Hospital of San Raphael.
As for what I think- I think I'm competitive and although I haven't taken the straight path I'm serious and passionate about becoming a CRNA.

Then nothing else matters.

Go for it & don't worry about anyone else's opinion. You'll do great.

its competitive enough to get an interview at most, if not all, places you apply. From there it depends if the people making the decision believe you will be a good fit with them or not. But i would expect you to get in to maybe 3 out of 5 schools applied to.. obviously that is a rough guess and many variables go into that, but I'm a betting man and i'll stick with that number :)
