geez..
this reminds me of the quack patients i've had in the past that wanted to wear headphones playing soothing sounds, while hearing me say some chant repeated several times during induction and emergence, including that they will heal quickly and want ice cream. really?!?

many drugs have been developed by isolating the favorable attributes of natural substances. Ginger, propolis, and tumeric are just a few substances with serious biomedical potential. Can't say anything about your quack patients, but there is a biochemical basis for many of these studies even though the sound all new-age and unscientific.

Although I haven't read this yet, I do think it is short sighted not to appreciate the role that odorant receptors play on the CNS.

In fact Axel and Buck won the Nobel Prize in 2004 for odorant receptors.
