I am currently in the process of applying/interviewing for anesthesia school. Of the programs I applied for the cost of tuition varies greatly, from $26,000-$101,000. If, hypothetically, the only place I am accepted to is the most expensive, would it be worth it/recommended? Obviously school is expensive, but I'm just wondering how much you all feel is too much.... Just looking for some feedback/opinions....
Thanks!

The thing to do is figure which offers the best education and shoot for them. I'm talking plenty of regional, peripheral blocks, central lines, and independence on senior rotations like running your own room and I recommend a small class size. Preferably around 20 or less i think is a good number. All else being equal, I would go for 26,000 dollars tuition. Be wary of private institutions. The rules are...different there, which I learned the hard way.

Esper can you expand on why to be weary about private institutions?

It's not financially related, and I'd rather not. You can PM me if you'd like.

Thanks so much for your opinion....so bottom line if the program has all that you said I should be looking for, the $100,000 shouldn't be an issue to me because I will be getting a good experience. I feel that I shouldn't worry about this and that I will be making enough money upon graduation that it won't be an issue.

Some are much more economically minded than me, but I'd pay top dollar for a good program. But if you can find that in a cheap program then obviously you'll do better financially and minimizes risk if reimbursement/salaries drop or if you unfortunately could not make it to graduation. And don't think it can't happen to you.
My program was very expensive, but worth it (in terms of my training, disregarding other aspects).

Please don't think that cost has anything to do with quality in this instance. Some of the best programs are relatively cheap, and some of the worst programs are very expensive. You have to do a lot of investigating before applying.

ROFL you just have to relax, and only give that tuition to someone you trust.

Total. One school is $26,000....another as much as $101,000 out of state tuition!

I'm can't even imagine how they would justify that cost. Far above market value. I wouldn't go there out of principle - it simply drives the market worth further up.
What school is it?
