Don't know if I'm alone...but the other thread has gotten too cluttered for me to wade through.
Does anyone know when they are sending our "packets" with info on the chemistry refresher, orientation date, etc...???

Last I heard, it was going to be the beginning of this month. Sometime this week, hopefully.

Anyone know of a cheap room to rent in the area?
Also - what sort of technology do you think meets our needs best and most cost-effectively? We need high-speed internet, right? Would a mobile phone with a Wifi hot-spot work for this? Anyone have experience with using Clear internet access? What about smartphones vs. something like an Ipod touch?

Yes you need high speed access for the streaming videos to work correctly. Also, when I looked into the verizon wifi it had a bandwith limit and the videos are a few hundred megabytes each, and you may watch some of them multiple times depending on your study style. So just make sure you don't have any limits to the amount of usage you have each month or it may not be as cost effective as it seems.
Smartphones vs Ipod touch.... Don't really see why you'd need one in didactic, and clinicals I dunno yet.

There was someone in the other TWU thread (trying to think of who) who said he/she lives in Fort Worth and was considering renting a room. The comment is there if you're up to perusing the thread.
We need laptop computers w/ high speed internet access...I don't think a smart phone or ipad will suffice. The official requirements were mailed with the other documents. Got mine in the mail today....so excited!!!

PM'd that person a while ago about the room. It's still up in the air.
I was thinking that maybe the mobile hotspot connected to the laptop computer might be a slick way to have access, since my family will stay at home in Pearland and keep the wired access they already have. Didn't think about the potential bandwidth problem. Would love to be able to have videos on a flash drive or some way other than streaming . . .
The packet arrived? Time for me and the toddler to run down to the mailbox!

Yes, I got mine today...I do live in DFW though so the mail generally only takes one day.

I was the one that mentioned renting a room. My fiance (husband in one month) is in the navy and I'm waiting until end of April or early May to find out if he's coming home. If he's not then I am going to rent out a bedroom of my house. I would like it to be someone in the program so I would have a study buddy or carpool friend. I have a 3 bed 2 bath house in a quiet neighborhood about 20 minutes from school. I have wifi, cable, etc and two community pools. I do have a friendly german shepherd so if you don't like dogs then it wouldn't work.

Hows it going everyone? I'm new to this website so I hope I am doing this right. I got accepted and was hoping to meet some of the people I will be in class with.
