hello :)

first post and question

what i want to ask about is what is the minimal time between two procedures . for example just like a rule "The time between two procedures must not be less than XX minutes ".

and if the rule is good (thirty minutes or more ) is there an official source of this rule ?

the hospital where i was working the time is about 20 minutes to prepare equipment and drugs for cardiac surgery :nurse: after that i got about 20 million question asking if iam ready or not .

If you are asking for a rule as to turnover time between consecutive cases in the same OR, I doubt you'll find such an animal, as it is institution-specific. And never fast enough to suit some folks!

I'm a little confused about your question. Are you asking what the minimal time is between 2 cases legally? As in, the time can't be shorter than (not longer than) so many minutes?

I think for billing purposes, we are allowed to bill for 10min prior to Room time for preop interview. This time can't overlap with your end of anesthesia time in the PACU for the previous case.

As far as minimal turn over time, as deepz said, seems never short enough. Turbo turnovers is what you should be striving for. That means, get all your paperwork done during the case and make up new syringes and get as much ready for the next case as you can. Minimize emergence and Pacu time as long as the patient safety doesn't take a back seat.

I have had this problem doing pain cases with one of the pain docs. As soon as I go to PACU he will bring the next patient into the room. Circulator will chart her time in, but I have to often record a different time so that I do not overlap my PACU time. In those cases, I add 2 minutes to my PACU out time for the start of the next case.
