Is anyone going to West Virginia to go to CRNA school this May? I am headed that way myself and was trying to see if anyone else was doing the same? Thanks, Vaporgirl

So last night I was SOO nervous thinking that you guys had gotten accepted, and I wasn't even considered for an Interview. Total bummer. Then only to find out that CAMC doesn't do personal interviews! and I got my letter today!!!! I'm IN!!!!!!!!!!! May 2011!!!! soo freakin happy!!
I'm not from the area, not remotely familiar. I'm from the northeast. What are u guys doing for housing? loans?
Can't wait to meet everyone! can't wait to get this journey started =) Again congrats!!!

Congrats everyone!
I plan on commuting initially. You will get a packet from CAMC that will give you more insight into the financial aid process. Complete the 2011-2012 FAFSA while you wait.

Congrats Vapogirl and Duyen82! Thanks for the enthusiasm Vapogirl, if you do just don't run over Greezbhal.
I'm not looking forward to the year wait but it is nice to know I am guaranteed a spot so I can start planning. A year from now expect a private message from me inquiring about what to expect.

Has anyone seen any good apartments in the area? I have looked online and a lot of them look pretty scary. I am trying to go this week to visit some apartments since I will be moving from three hours away... :)

I'm in the same boat as you SarahS, except I'm in New York, so I can't scope out apts. =P I was wondering if they offer oncampus type housing. Hopefully my packet comes soon so I can figure all that stuff out. I've been going on Craigslist to scope out Apts but the pickings are VERY slim =T Everything will come together..its just its only like 2 months away!!!

What new movie are you Talking about?
I'm sure everybody got stress, and each handle it differently. Some good roommate could give more moral support during this stressful time frame and grow some real friends.

I think the movie is actually called "The Roomate" came out last month. About college roomies, where the one girl becomes obsessed with her roommate and wanting to become like her, and even gets a tattoo and tries to steal her boyfriend. That is what I gathered just from the previews =P
I was just joking anyways. I'm an easy going person, non-smoker, dont own any pets.

Graduated in 03, there were resident dorms across from the school at the time. Not sure if they still offer them but you may want to contact the school to get first crack.

Here is a link to the CAMC Resident Housing site. It looks like they have a few options available. I would imagine these go quickly.

Hey everyone I am in my first year at CAMC and as far as apartments/housing goes - Look in the Dunbar or South Charleston area ( I personally used to live at Roxalana Hills in Dunbar about $600/month and they were clean and well kept with some extras) Good Luck and One word of advice for those of you starting in May - Take a few weeks before school starts for yourself because once it starts there are very few "breaks".

Someone told me that Dunbar was kind of a bad area...=/ Have you heard of The Oaks apts?

Just spoke with a guy at CAMC housing. First dibs goes to medical students and medical residents for whatever they have available and he won't know until the first of July what is open.

This area of Dunbar is fine (The Oaks is right across from Roxalana Hills - Just more expensive) Dunbar is like any other town it has "good" and "bad" areas, but the location of these apartments is very nice and quiet. Most of your neighbors will either be elderly or "young professionals". Hope this helps.

You have been very helpful! thanks a bunch....Do you think getting a place out in Teays Village is TOO far? Seen some really nice apts out there, just wondering if it would be worth it to, with the commute and all.

Not "too" far and actually I think a few of my classmates live in that area. From what I know about it it is a nice, fast growing area of our state. One downfall is the drive into Charleston in the mornings is somewhat congested, but depending on where you are coming from it may be nothing. Good Luck. Plus keep this in mind - Gas is $3.65 a gallon currently, and if you are like most students in the program money is always an issue and Teays Valley is a good 25 min commute each way.

To anyone who has already gotten their WV license: What has been the turn around time? I know we (the class starting in May) still have a lot of time but I'm just wondering.
On a very related side note: 4 working days left!!

Not sure, but I applied for a temp license since it was only 10 bucks extra I think and I got that last week. About 2 weeks after I sent my application in to BON. Doesn't exactly answer your question =P Good for you!! I could defintaly use a month off to spend with friends and family...but I'm stuck under my traveling contract till the week before school starts =/

My temporary license is showing up on their website now so I guess I should expect some correspondence soon. It's probably been a week. Not bad at all.
