Just wanted to tell you guys that I have recently applied to CRNA school and will find something out soon. I just would like some prayers and good thoughts sent my way. I feel like I am walking anxiety-LOL. This is so not like undergrad...everyone is equally qualified, and I'm worried. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and prayers, I will take all I can get.

Good luck!

Where did you apply? Any idea how many you are up against? Is it a new program?

I will be starting school in the Fall in Salt Lake City and I'm excited. You will succeed if you keep at it. Just think of that as you are waiting for your letter.

good luck....it is tough but obviously dooable(sp?).......remember God is in control....some people don't get in at first....that is fine.....we all get paid the same once in and out(you get the idea...).....no one remembers once out anyway...just do your best like you have been doing and all will be fine...there are good days and bad...but all days have 24 hrs...and you will make it fine....do your best and ask God for help and it always occurs.....I was not the smartest or best but do just fine and we all help each other usually..........CRNA's know how hard it is and usually we know and realize we have to help one another to make it.........eat an elephant one bite at a time....drink lotsa coffee ....ha .haa..study...........it will be fine..GOOD Luck! God Bless.

Thank you all for all of the advice. I am applying to a new program that was started a few years ago. I heard today that I will have an interview on July 28th, and I can't wait. This is the final portion of the application process there. A friend of mine that is already accepted was interviewed and had a certified letter in two days following her interview. So, I'm hoping it will be that fast for me too....I'm also hoping for an acceptance letter-LOL. I will keep you posted. Thanks again.

Just got to reading this on the 28th, the day of your interview. Good luck, I'm sure you won't need it. Warms my heart to hear about the anxieties of school. It's been said before, but this is just the beginning. You got a lot coming your way, but just nodd and agree and take it all in strides. You'll just find a way to deal with that all the stress. Develop thicker skin and learn more. Anyways, we're all routing for ya!!!

Mike,
I'm doing the waiting game also, have an interview on Sept 25th. I've seen you recommend books to pick up and get a head start on reading, can you list some here for us?
thanx

hey mel

Well im no expert. However, talking to those who ahve already been through the process on this website i seem to have gotten a good concensus.

One thing to check is in the downloads section under Education Files. There is a "pre school review aids" subdirectory where you will find the US Army CRNA program review guide complete with questions and study material to review before school. This includes math, pharm, chem etc. It rocks.

As for books, i have been reading Morgan and Mikhails Clinical Anesthesiology. This is an easy to read book which, by all accounts, covers everything nicely.

Well, they did call me in September and tell me that I was accepted into the class starting in January, but I am going to decline for now. They said they would hold me a spot until January of 09 if I wanted, but I have a lot of questions about it. We will see.

Yeah, what Tran said! :) What happened? Jan 09 is a good way off; do you really need to put it off for that long?

A few reasons...my father in law is sick #1...he has lung cancer. Another is that this is a new program...it is self study, and I'm really iffy about that. You attend classes for 3 days every 4th week, and test then. You get CD-ROMS with lectures and can do clinicals in your area. They haven't had a graduating class yet, with no board results so I'm just really cautious about it. The anesthestists at my hospital are also saying that these students aren't as prepared as the other programs students either, and are making poor choices clinically. I also have a really established program in my area that I'm going to apply to and the app doesn't have to be in until February 1st, so I'm going to apply there too. There are a few other reasons too, but these are just a few....What do you guys think?

Jenny

wow

Self study anesthesia classes? I just dont see how that can be done and expect competent students?

Is the AANA allowing that now?

Sorry about your FIL. That's hard, isn't it?

As to the program, I think you're wise to be cautious. I'd be afraid to align myself with something like that, as well.

Good luck with your new application.

Terri

Yep...I guess so, but they are only accreditated until 2008...if I went starting in January then I would fall right in the middle of all of that and what if their pass rate sucks? Check the program out...if you google Mountain State University Nurse Anesthesia program I think it will come up. It is in Beckley, WV. Just call me traditional, but if I'm paying $65,000 for school, I want to go to class-LOL!!!! Talk soon.
